Common questions

What people ask before they book

Are our sessions private?

Yes, completely. What you say stays in the room. There is no medical record, and nothing goes to your employer or your family. The only limit is the legal duty every counsellor works under, the same at any clinic. We have two private locations, Raffles Place and Joo Chiat, and you can also meet online from home.

What if my partner won't come?

Start on your own. A lot of couples work begins with one person, and it still helps. You will get clearer on the patterns, on what you want, and on how to talk about it at home. Many partners join once they see it is not about being blamed. Either way, you do not have to wait for them to say yes before you begin.

Will you take sides?

No. Your therapist is not there to decide who is right. They are there to help you both feel heard, slow down the moments that go off the rails, and find a way forward that works for the relationship, whatever that turns out to be.

What if the therapist isn't right for me?

Tell us after your first session and we will match you with someone else. Fit is the single thing that makes or breaks therapy, so you are never stuck with the wrong one. The free 15-minute chemistry call is there to check the fit before you ever book a full session.

What happens on the free 15-minute chemistry call?

It is a short, no-pressure call with the therapist we have matched to you, not a salesperson. You talk through what is going on, get a feel for them, and decide if it is the right fit. No payment, no commitment. If it feels right, you book your first full session. If not, we will match you with someone else.

Do we have to be at breaking point to come?

No. Plenty of couples come long before crisis, because the same argument keeps coming back, because they feel more like roommates, or because a big change is testing them. You do not need a reason big enough to justify it. If it matters to the two of you, it is worth a conversation.

How do we know it will help?

Many couples notice a shift in the first session or two, a calmer conversation, a little more room before things escalate. You are matched to a therapist trained in the methods built for this work, the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy, at a practice led by Dr. Glenn Graves (Ph.D., EMDR). Lasting change is the work of a course, usually 10 to 15 sessions, and both partners showing up matters. If it is not helping, we will look at a different therapist or approach with you.

What does it cost?

A 60-minute couples session ranges from $180 to $400 + GST, depending on the therapist we match you with. You are never locked into a package, and you decide as you go. If cost is a concern, bring it up on your free chemistry call. We offer a sliding scale and package rates, and we write the reports you need to claim on insurance.

Still have a question? That is exactly what the free 15-minute chemistry call is for.
